Special features
Socio-educational counselling approaches
Education and counselling can be seen as an inseparable unit. In view of the growing need for counselling in everyday life, the Master's degree course focuses on the development of an integrative (socio-)educational approach to education and counselling. Lifelong educational programmes are essential for people's participation in society. The degree programme defines counselling as a fundamental task of social work and education and places particular emphasis on practical applicability and interdisciplinary exchange. This is a special feature of the course compared to other therapeutic and specialised counselling approaches and offers students a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive and versatile further training and to be optimally prepared for future challenges.
Educational concepts in social work
Educational policy endeavours are aimed at promoting employability and social participation. For this reason, social work must specify its own (socio-)educational concept of education. Theoretical approaches are developed in order to justify an expanded concept of education. In the degree programme, we examine how structures and social spaces influence education. In doing so, we critically reflect on the classic concept of education, which focusses on forms of mediation.
