Teaching at the KHSB - discursive, critical, participative, personal
Our innovative teaching profile is designed to be interdisciplinary. It aims to promote your research-based learning, discourse, critical reflection and active participation. All our degree programmes are characterised by a close integration of theory and practice, which deepens and enriches your daily learning experience.
Flexible study options
The KHSB offers a wide range of full-time, part-time and dual Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. Under certain conditions, it is also possible to study without a traditional university entrance qualification. Whether it's a lateral entry, a change of subject, studying after many years of professional activity, with or without an Abitur - the KHSB has always stood for educational openness and educational equality.
Teaching with practical relevance
At the KHSB, the consistent combination of theory and practice in all degree programmes is the starting point for new learning experiences. Students always understand and deepen scientific theories and methods in a case-related, solution-orientated and interdisciplinary way.
Our professors actively guide you through your learning processes. They not only have outstanding academic qualifications, but also valuable practical professional experience. As a result, they are particularly good at teaching you the connection between academic theory and professional practice.
Workshops as learning and experience spaces
The KHSB creates diverse learning and experience spaces for its students. Whether in seminars and lectures, projects and excursions, internships and supervision - research-based learning and critical reflection are encouraged everywhere.
In the workshops in particular, students receive targeted learning and research support. Here they can become active themselves, get to the bottom of their own research questions, try out methods and creatively realise ideas:
The subject-specific workshops provide intensive support during the introductory phase of the degree programme and teach the scientific and methodological tools for a successful course of study through project work, some of which is interdisciplinary.
The learning workshop inspires independent, exploratory learning. Students have a large repertoire of social, elementary and curative education materials at their disposal to support their own learning and the development processes of clients.
The art workshop invites you to try out a wide variety of materials for creative design. Graphic, painting and sculptural skills are taught in workshops. The aim is to unfold one's own development potential and that of others by initiating creative processes.
Media are a natural part of children's and young people's lives. The task of media education is to promote the creative and educational potential of media. In the media workshop, students can experiment with audiovisual and digital media and prepare and follow up on practical projects.
The movement workshop is a space for shared physical experience. This is where bodies meet, relationships become tangible and knowledge is created through action: an experience-based approach to professional practice in the social professions.
