Digitalisation as a strategic field of action
The KHSB implements the goals of its digitalisation strategy in various fields of action - from research and teaching to everyday university life. Digitalisation is an integral part of university development. On this page, we present selected measures and fields of action.
The KHSB's key objective in the context of digitalisation is to meet the digital challenges. In doing so, it utilises the diverse potential of digital developments and at the same time deals responsibly with their risks. The KHSB sees digitality as a key to realising its goals - both in the design of teaching and research content, in its didactic and methodological orientation and in the development of supporting structures. Digital developments are always closely linked to social exchange. The KHSB attaches particular importance to sustainable and participatory design processes.
Digitisation strategy of the KHSB
From supporting student diversity to developing digital sovereignty and creating agile infrastructures: the digitalisation strategy in the form of a balanced scorecard combines the university's organisational perspectives in the areas of:
- Study and teaching
- Research, transfer and continuing education and
- Resources (personnel, management, infrastructure and finance).
The strategy structures the university's fields of action. It distinguishes between strategic and concrete goals and divides these into short, medium and long-term as well as ongoing measures for concrete planning and review. (Digital) accessibility
One of the KHSB's goals is to make the university inclusive. This enables all people to participate in courses independently and without outside help, master organisational processes and cope with everyday study and work life. Inclusion through digital accessibility not only creates access, but also conveys accessibility to students of social professions as a matter of course and lived practice. Digital tools play a central supporting role in this.
Generative AI at the university
There is a need for ongoing communication on how to deal with text-generating programmes in teaching and examinations. Ideas on how to proceed were discussed, for example, in the Commission for Studies and Teaching and sent to all members of the university. Handouts for students on how to deal with AI as part of their studies can be found in the KHSB's form cupboard.
The university provides licences for FOBIZZ. This enables employees to use chat GPT and DALL-E, for example, in compliance with data protection regulations.
All members of the university have the option of using a data protection-compliant AI to transcribe audio material. A powerful computer with the aTrain programme is available for this purpose in the recording and editing room.
The
Digitalisation in teaching and research
Digitalisation plays an important role in the teaching of social professions. The degree programme serves as a place to critically examine digitalisation processes. This prepares social professionals for professional practice in the various fields of work: They can pay careful attention to a socially just and inclusive implementation of digitalisation. The KHSB has a professorship in
Digitalisation also plays an important role in research at the KHSB. In research projects, for example, the changing living environments of the addressees are examined in the context of digitalisation.
The Alterperimentale transfer alliance is based at the KHSB. The university is also represented by Prof. Dr Cordula Endter in the Digitalisation Research Network North East. This means that digitalisation topics play an important role in the research profile. The completed research project "Co-Creation and Sustainable Participation in the Development of Hybrid Health IT" (Co-Cre-HIT) also bears witness to this.
The university also advocates easier access to scientific knowledge. In 2021, the KHSB signed the Berlin Declaration and developed an open access policy. Further information on the dissemination of research results can be found here: Open Access at the KHSB
