"My path into science began at the KHSB. I was encouraged and inspired by professors there. Today, I am doing my doctorate at the KHSB with the aim of combining science and practice in the context of poverty in family centres."

University of practice

We focus on the practical application of what students have learnt in order to prepare them as well as possible for the challenges of professional life. Our lecturers have extensive professional experience and several years of practical work experience. They impart knowledge that can be applied directly.

We also focus on a varied study programme with seminars, workshops, e-learning elements, practical exercises and specialist workshops. Through close cooperation with institutions in the social and healthcare sectors, in the church and (welfare) organisations, the judiciary and administration, we offer a wide range of opportunities for internships, projects and excursions.

In favour of diversity and anti-discrimination

People are at the centre of everything we do. We respect and value social diversity in all its facets.

The KHSB actively opposes discrimination and anti-Semitism. The resolute fight against anti-Semitism (and all forms of hatred) and active solidarity with those affected are part of our university's self-image. Devaluation, exclusion and combating Jewish existence as an ideology and practice have no place here. We promote the university as a space for exchange in order to develop strategies and measures to bring the issue of anti-Semitism more into the structures of the university.

The decisive factor in combating all forms of racism is how we react to it as members of the university and as an institution. We are committed to democratic coexistence in which people can be different without fear.
