Campus life

Campus life

Life on our campus is diverse and offers numerous opportunities to engage in creative and sporting activities or develop musical talents alongside your studies. Three important elements of our campus life are campus art, university music and university sport.

Campus locations

Our university offers plenty of space to discover. Get to know the most important places at our university: small and large, old and new, quiet and noisy, seminar rooms, lecture theatres, workshops, informal and official meeting spaces. Each place has its own history and contributes to informing and educating yourself, gaining practical experience, getting involved or making friends. In short, to enrich your academic journey.

Campus art

Campus art characterises the cultural and aesthetic life of our academic community in a special way. In many different forms of expression - from installations and exhibitions to temporary art projects - it enriches the campus and continues to inspire. Works of art not only shape public spaces, but also create lively, stimulating places for students, teaching staff and guests.

In addition, art on campus offers a valuable platform for artistic expression, interdisciplinary dialogue and creative development. It makes it a place where art, education and encounters come together in a lively way.

Staircase art

Anyone travelling around the KHSB will inevitably pass it: the Diagonale, the large work of art in the entrance area of the university, which winds its way from the basement to the third floor.

The Diagonale, the eye-catching ceramic work by artist , is the result of a competition for the design of the KHSB staircase in 2016.

You can find insights into the creation process and the artist's project idea in the interview.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are an essential part of campus art and provide a platform for the presentation and discussion of artistic and academic work. The exhibitions create inspiring spaces and contribute to the identity and sense of community of our university.

Student exhibitions are an excellent opportunity for students to present their work to a wide audience. They promote creative exchange and offer students valuable feedback on their work.

Temporary exhibitions

In addition to student exhibitions, we also invite guest artists or projects to present their works on campus.

Temporary exhibitions offer the opportunity to explore current trends and developments in the art scene or to find out more about social science topics.

They enrich the cultural life of our university and the Karlshorst neighbourhood and at the same time promote dialogue between students and established artists.

Would you like to exhibit on our premises? We look forward to receiving your enquiry.

University music

Our university band "Crossroads" is another highlight of campus life. Musically talented students make music together with employees of the university and share their passion for music. The band rehearses regularly and performs at various events on campus, such as the summer party, graduation ceremonies and special concerts. The music of the university band ranges from rock and pop to jazz and classical pieces - depending on the preferences and abilities of the members. The focus is always on having fun with the music. Students have the chance to improve their musical skills, make new friends and have unforgettable experiences. A warm invitation to "More Music"!

Everyone is welcome and appreciated.
