Welcome to the KHSB - the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in the German capital. As a state-recognised university under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Berlin, we have been offering a wide range of educational programmes in the social field for over 30 years. We support you in your academic and personal development. Discover our inspiring learning opportunities.
The Catholic University of Applied Social Sciences (KHSB) offers you a degree programme in a personal and supportive atmosphere where you can get the most out of research and teaching. Here you have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the social sector and to develop both professionally and personally.
If you are looking for a university that allows you to do all this, then KHSB is the right place for you.
The prerequisite is that you fulfil the study requirements of the Erasmus+ programme:
- Your university must have an Erasmus+ co-operation with the KHSB.
- You must have proof of CEF language proficiency in German at at least B1 level.
The language of instruction is German. The KHSB does not offer any courses in English. An exception is the internship module in English B2.
Contact the International Office at your university. They will provide you with all the important information about the application procedure and whether you are eligible for an exchange programme at the KHSB. Your university must nominate you.
Once you have been nominated by your university, you will receive an e-mail with important information and a link to the online application.
You can enrol at the KHSB two months before the start of the semester using a form. Payment of the social contribution Studierendenwerk (currently € 85.00) and Studierendenschaft (currently € 5.00) and the semester ticket (Deutschlandsemesterticket: currently € 208.80) is obligatory. The total costs then amount to € 298.80 for the winter semester 2025/26.
These files also contain instructions for completing the form and important information about the study regulations. Six weeks before the start of the semester, the university will compile the relevant timetable based on Table A of the Learning Agreement and send it to you.
You can find the semester timetable here.

For us, inclusion is not a special right, but a matter of course - so that everyone can fulfil their potential. A barrier-free degree programme should enable all students - with and without disabilities - to participate with equal opportunities. In addition to a wheelchair-accessible building and options for compensating for individual disadvantages, our teaching staff are also sensitised to the topic. We have summarised our advisory and support services on the following page on studying with a disability.
